Today is my due date and I’m pretty sure she’s not coming today. I went to the doctor yesterday and I am not dilated at all but I am 50% effaced, which apparently is a good thing. The last few days have been a bit scary.

I’ve had some crazy insomnia and between Friday and Monday I think I may have slept about 4 hours. I haven’t slept much anyway but this was worse than it had been. I called the doctor about it on Monday, 3/19 only because I was also having this crazy anxiety along with it. I would almost be asleep and then wake up gasping for air and freaking out that I couldn’t breathe and was going to die in my sleep. I’d use my inhaler a bunch of times and it didn’t help. So essentially I was afraid to go to sleep because I was afraid I wouldn’t wake up. It was totally irrational and I kept trying to tell myself everything was fine but it didn’t work.

These crazy thoughts happened at night or when I tried to fall asleep during the day. I felt like I was going crazy. After I called my doctor she sent me to Labor and Delivery at the hospital on Monday to monitor my BP and breathing and the baby of course. Everything was fine. She gave me some Ativan for anxiety and sent me home and I pretty much slept all afternoon. Finally some sleep! Then of course I wasn’t tired that night and was up all night on Monday. On Tuesday around 3am I even started hallucinating. Andy came downstairs with me to help calm me down and I could have sworn the curtains and quilt were moving and he said they weren’t. OMG I thought I was going nuts!

I went to see the doctor on Tuesday and she suggested I take Ativan with Unisom last night so I could sleep. It worked and I got a glorious 12 hours of sleep last night. I don’t know how the rest of the week is going to go but at least I feel like I am slowly getting back to normal. Thank goodness the baby could be here any day because I can’t take much more of this craziness. I’m ready to get her out of my body at meet her!

Andy has been great through all of this. He has been so supportive and patient and I really appreciate it. He’s also basically taken over cooking all of our meals and cleaning our house since I need to stay off of my feet. I know he’s ready for the baby to come too and I think I’ve prepared him to be ready for a new kind of craziness when the baby comes.

Baby Name Game

Over the last few months at baby showers and family gatherings, we’ve been playing the baby name game. I explained it more in this post but basically we gave a clue and had whoever wanted to participate contribute $1 and guess the name. At this point we have $52 and we’re excited for the baby to come so we can announce the winner! One person DID guess the name so we will let everyone know after she arrives.  🙂

Final Baby Shower

Our last baby shower was on Saturday, March 3. Bob and Carole hosted at their home in Orinda and we had a great time. Their daughter Patty also came down from Fresno to help host as well. We lucked out with another beautiful and warm day. It was great to spend time with friends and I know Carole and Bob also enjoyed meeting everyone. A few of my AAA friends who either now work in the Emeryville office or don’t work there anymore were also able to come and it was great to see them. I was also happy that my former WaMu colleagues Jennifer and Sunny came as well. And my friend Chrichelle, whom I went to junior high with in Houston, was able to drive up from the South Bay and attend. It was so great to see people I hadn’t seen in a while! I just wish we had taken more pictures. We didn’t even get a picture of Andy and I with the hosts!

Baby Bump Pics

I’ve been really bad about taking pictures of my growing belly on a regular basis. I had good intentions but then I would get home from work and fall asleep on the couch. Here are a few pics of my growing belly. Can’t wait for baby Blair to arrive!
