Mom/Grandma’s Visit

My mom came to visit from Oct 17-21 and I was so happy for her visit. I was excited for her to get more time with Eliza and I was also excited to have her around for ME! It’s been a crazy few months and I needed mom to be there to help me get back on track. We’ve had a lot of things go wrong lately and they were causing me a lot of stress. I went back to work on July 25 and I feel like we’ve had a ton of things happen since then: dealing with Eliza’s eczema, broken toe, getting rid of the cats, carpet cleaning, me getting sick, broken refrigerator that required 3 repair visits, Eliza waking up a million times a night scratching and crying (and me/us not being able to do anything to help), losing my phone and a host of other things that I can’t remember now but I know that I blocked out. I hadn’t been getting much sleep and I wasn’t eating much and had been in a very bad and tired mood for weeks! So I was really happy to take a couple days off of work and spend time with mom!

On Thursday we went to lunch with Carole and Marge at Lettuce in Walnut Creek. Friday was mom’s birthday and that was my favorite day. We went to the Legion of Honor, had lunch at Beach Chalet, drove around her favorite places in SF like Lombard Street and then had pizza for her birthday dinner at Rocco’s back in Walnut Creek. It was a really good day. And of course Eliza was complete angel. She loved looking around at the museum and was so good at lunch and then fell asleep in the car after that. The day just worked out really well! On Saturday we went to an Arts & Crafts Festival in Danville and then later that evening went to a small Halloween party with all of the parents and babies from my moms group. Sunday morning we had lunch at 10:30am at In-N-Out next to the Oakland airport and then it was time for her to go home.

She helped me with some strategies for managing stress and gave me some tips for making sure I had food to eat so that helped. I know it sounds basic but being gluten-free (and really for the most part grain-free) and now not being able to eat eggs or bananas it’s hard to find grab-and-go stuff. If I don’t make or go out to eat it’s hard to eat. I’m also not used to being this stressed out (let’s face it, my life has never been very stressful until I had a baby) so I needed some coping skills. So…I’m feeling better and more grounded so hopefully that feeling will continue!

First Solid Food!

The morning we went to the pumpkin patch we fed Eliza her first solid food. We decided to feed her avocado. I mixed it up in the baby bullet and it was so easy. She had a weird look on her face at first but overall I think she liked it!

Here’s a link to the video. I love the cute smile she gives daddy right before he stops the video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT54KwC_qAU

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch at the beginning of October. It was a fun day! Little Eliza wasn’t so sure of the pumpkins but she loved the train ride. It was fun and I’m excited to make it a tradition for years to come! Here are some pictures from the day:
