Eliza had a wonderful first Christmas! Well, at least it was wonderful for us.¬†On Christmas Day she woke up around 8:15 and took a bottle and then we sat her down to open her gifts. She wasn’t totally sure what to do but she loved holding her presents. I wrapped some clothes that my mom and Cathy had sent her and she would bang the presents together and laugh. We tried to start opening them for her but as expected, she didn’t really know what to do with them to open them more. So we would open the present for her and she would smile and squeal with delight! Even though she didn’t know how to open them she seemed really happy to see what was inside.

After presents Mike and Staci came by for their annual Christmas Day visit. Mike hadn’t met Eliza yet and Staci hadn’t seen her since she was 3 months old so it was nice to see them and catch up. Around 2pm we went over to Carole and Bob’s and had a wonderful time. As usual, Eliza loved all of the attention that she got and also played on the floor nicely. Once dinner was over, Carole and Bob had time to play with her and she enjoyed that. Bob had a Christmas hat that lit up, moved around and played music and she LOVED it when his hat was in motion. We left around 8pm to drive home in the rain and happy that we had such a wonderful day!

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve we went to the city in the afternoon through the early evening to look at lights in Union Square and at the surrounding hotels. It was fun! Eliza took a couple of naps while we were out and about but she enjoyed it. When we picked her up and held her up to see some lights she would say “ahhh!” We went to dinner at the Daily Grill and she enjoyed sitting in her high chair and watching people and especially watching the wait staff rush around. She gave them a lot of smiles and they smiled right back at her!

Eliza is 9 months old!

Her pictures were especially funny this month. She wouldn’t smile for pictures unless she had her hair brush with her. It made me laugh.

Eliza at 9 months:

Weight: 16 lbs 14oz, 28 inches long
Clothing size: 6 and 9 month sizes
Diaper size: Target Up and Up brand, size 2
Likes: smiling, laughing, standing up, talking/babbling, going anywhere, reading books (Moo Baa La La La is still her favorite and she also loves I Love You Through and Through)
Dislikes: baths- she really hates them and cries until we take her out
Naps: longer morning nap and shorter naps in the afternoon
Milestones: Started rolling around a lot on 12/28 and seems to want to move around. She babbles and mimicks and says mama, dada and unfortunately, “ass.” No, she didn’t hear it from us. She’s been saying “aaaa” and she started saying her “s” sound and put the two together. She also had her first cold this month but she’s better now.

December

December was a busy month with parties and lots of Christmas fun! Eliza was invited to attend a few of the parties and she was SUCH a good baby. It was unbelievable! She loves people and loves being out and about so it was a joy to bring her everywhere. She attended Leslie and Judy’s holiday party, Kelsey’s first birthday party and Peter and Julia’s holiday party.

At Leslie and Judy’s party at the beginning of December she was so happy and really enjoyed the band that played at their house. She sat mesmerized and especially loved watching Judy play the drums. She enjoyed Kelsey’s first birthday party and bonded with Jim and Megan. And she loved all the attention that she got at Sam and Natalie’s Christmas Eve Eve celebration on December 23.

She also had a fun evening with grandma and grandpa while Andy and I attended Ari and Rebecca’s Hanukkah party.

Eliza also had her first visit with Santa. We waited in line for an hour and she will still in a good mood by the time we got to Santa. She wouldn’t look at the camera and barely smiled but hey, at least we got a decent picture!

We also had an ADORABLE photo shoot at her daycare and got the cutest picture for our Christmas card. I loved it!
