Eliza is so much fun!

Eliza has been so much fun lately! She’s still doing lots of talking and babbling and mimics what we say. We taught her to say “thank you” and “Bridget,” (it sounds more like bi-git) the owner of her daycare. She also started saying “go back” on her own, as well as “go back go,” which kind of sounded like “Go Pack Go.” When I pick her up from day care and put her in the car she points back to the house and says “bi-get,” meaning Bridget, since we’re leaving Bridget’s house. It’s cute.

That’s another milestone- she can point to communicate what she wants. When we go into her room to get ready in the morning or get ready for bed at night she points to the iPad and speakers and we turn on her music while we get her ready. She loves it! She recently started dancing and moving to music and it’s really cute.

And she loves to wave to people from her stroller when we’re out running errands. It’s so much fun to watch her grow and change every day!

Here’s Eliza saying “Geico”. No, we did not teach her that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VozfN-1eD4U&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Eliza had her first road trip to LA the weekend of Jan 12. We drove down on a Saturday and stayed until Tuesday. My friend Stevie was nice enough to allow us to stay with her and we had a wonderful visit! Eliza and Stevie bonded immediately and it was so cute to see Eliza just love Stevie and want to hang with her too. And it was nice so that Stevie could keep an eye on her while we were getting ready to go do things for the day! Stevie has a cat and by the end of the trip Stevie and taught her to say “Sparky” (the cat’s name) and “gentle.”

The whole reason for the trip was for Andy’s birthday. He wanted to go down and be on The Price is Right. I didn’t want to leave Eliza for that long and I wanted her to meet our LA friends so I was really glad when Cathy and Stevie offered to watch Eliza while we went on the show.

The trip was a whirlwind but a lot of fun. We got there on Saturday around 5pm and we stayed in with Stevie and watched the 49ers game together. On Sunday we met Andy’s cousin Gregory, his wife and new baby for lunch in Beverly Hills and it was fun to catch up with them. Then afterward we went over to Cathy and Bryan’s in Burbank. They were nice enough to host a party for us so that we could see all of our LA friends. It was great and I was really happy that everyone got to meet Eliza!

Monday was the day we went to the show taping and it was a LONG DAY. We got there at 11:30 and basically waited in line outside for over 4 hours until we were let into the taping at 4pm. Not only was it a long time but LA was having unseasonably cold weather and even though I was dressed appropriately, I could tell I was getting a cold and that a sore throat was coming on. I couldn’t wait to get into the studio and warm up but it was freezing in there too! The show was fun and we didn’t get called to “come on down” but we did get a consolation prize- two GIANT Hershey’s kisses. 🙂 I’m sure we got on camera by being in the audience. It was the Valentine’s Day episode and it airs on Feb 14. Look for us!

Anyway, we got back on Monday night and Eliza really wasn’t feeling well. I noticed before we left to drive to LA that she had started wheezing but we decided to cross our fingers and hope for the best. She was coughing and wheezing and really fussy and clingy to mommy. We put her to bed and then she woke up crying and we went upstairs to get her and I freaked because there was blood everywhere. Well, she had scratched her eczema and made her skin bleed. Poor baby!! It was awful. I felt so bad. After that, she wouldn’t sleep unless I was holding her so I didn’t get any sleep, which only made me more sick.

So we made the decision to leave LA at 7am. We called the dr’s office as soon as it opened and made a 3pm appt. Poor Eliza had bronchiolitis and had to get on a steroid and have a breathing treatment every 4 hours. So…it was a really fun trip that ended on a low note. I look forward to Eliza’s next LA visit and hopefully the weather will be warmer and she won’t get sick next time!

We had a great New Year’s Eve. Well, as I was getting Eliza ready she was crying and fussy so it ended up turning out great!

We walked two doors down to hang out with our neighbors Jen and Tim and their two kids Daniel and Emily. We got there at 6pm and planned on celebrating the East Coast NYE at 9pm and going home. We had dinner and drinks hung out and talked while the kids played. Daniel, who is 2, is always a lot nicer to Eliza than he is to his own sister so it was cute to watch him play with her. We rang in the East Coast NYE at 9pm and Eliza wasn’t too thrilled with the noisemakers. They scared her but after the noise died down she fell asleep in my arms soon after.

They put their kids to bed around 9:15 but we still had to have dessert- Tim’s homemade ice cream. It was delicious! We were all talking and the next thing we knew it was 11:30 so we decided we’d stay and celebrate the real New Years Eve! Eliza woke up soon after 11:30 and apparently she was ready to ring in her first New Years Eve as well. We ended up leaving around 12:30am and were thankful that we only had to walk 2 houses down. It was a really fun night!
